info/perms.

character; Kain Ghosthand / Tav NAME Baldur's Gate 3 CANON You'll never hear the same answer twice (late 20s?) AGE Half-elf, Half-tiefling, Half-liar SPECIES Rogue (Arcane Trickster), Warlock (Pact of the Blade) CLASS Good Question DEITY Even Better Question PATRON Baldur's Gate HOMES
features;
  • In his half-elf form black scales cover a good portion of his body, reaching as far as his cheeks and the back of his hands. Toned with lots of lean muscle.
  • His half-elf form also features sharp teeth and a pair of small upward-curving horns lined with gold filigrees. No claws or tail, though.
  • In his dragonborn form he's much stockier, with tough horns that curve further back along his skull. A thick tail lashes out behind him, often to the detriment of cups and stools.
  • Both forms possess glowing gold eyes with black sclera and vertically slit pupils. He rounds out at a little over six feet in height.
  • While much harder to see in his dragonborn form, Kain sports a jagged scar running along the left side of his face and several more curving over the right side of his neck and throat.

persona; Chaotic :> ALIGNMENT Witty, protective, adaptable, charismatic POSITIVE TRAITS Independent, secretive, transactional, proud NEUTRAL TRAITS Greedy, possessive, deceitful, hypocritical NEGATIVE TRAITS Jokes, booze, stealing anything that isn't nailed down ENJOYS Authority, nosiness, having to use the claw hammer DISLIKES
synopsis;

Sticky fingers. Whispers in the dark. Fire, brimstone and sulphur.

Formerly: a greedy Baldurian street rat whose innate magical talents helped him make it big as an illusionist and scammer. A brush with death in the Shadow-Cursed Lands led to an apparent change in priorities. Presently: still greedy, still a street rat. But he's also become something of a big brother figure to the younger scamps and scallywags trying to get by on their wits and the rest of the city-goers' light pursestrings. Kain's got a silver tongue and few reasons to hold it, especially in the presence of the law.

Shortly after his near-death experience in the Shadow-Cursed Lands, a black dragonborn calling himself Tav began to appear in and around Baldur's Gate. Where there was grief, regardless of the cause, he would appear to comfort those who remained... And offer a salve to their anguish in the form of wiping those dreadful memories from their minds. He's generally regarded with no small degree of wariness by locals, but most who have partaken in his 'healing' have found themselves carrying lighter burdens on their shoulders. No refunds allowed, of course.

Kain's trusty sidekick is a touchy-feely Mage Hand with a mind of its own. Tav's is a mouthy raven familiar named Echo. Can you guess her defining character quirk?

He's got as many skeletons in the closet as anyone else—one of them being his double life as Tav the memory eraser. While attempting to bury one such secret, he found himself abducted by a mind flayer and woke up with a new sidekick in his head: an Illithid tadpole.

out of character;
  • Backtagging: Absolutely! I'm a bit of a boomeranger but I'm happy to continue any thread as long as there's interest, no matter the gap between tags.
  • Threadjacking: If everyone's cool then yell to the heah.
  • Fourthwalling: I'd rather not if it's not part of your character's personality.
  • Off Limits: Pictures of bugs and snakes make me uncomfortable (Emerald Grove was not a fun jumpscare).
in character;
  • Physical Affection: Go for it. Kain's quite open when it comes to skinship.
  • Flirting: Chances are high that he'll flirt back.
  • Kissing: You are certainly welcome to try. Results may vary based on his approval rating for your character...
  • Romance: Much more inclined towards casual flings over romance—but I fuckin' love ships so let's go. I have a preference for M/F pairings but am down for M/M with discussion.
  • Smut: A sex is fine too. Kink list will appear here sooner or later.
  • Fighting: Absolutely. Violence isn't Kain's go-to problem solving tool, but it's not far down the list either.
  • Injury: Comes with the territory. Talk to me about maiming, though. No death.
  • Mind-reading: Possible, but Kain's got a good mind (and patron) to resist it.
  • Manipulation: Same as above!
notes;
  • Kain's dragonborn appearance is notably a result of Shapechange, not Disguise Self. I'll have screenshots and icons as soon as I can get another playthrough running sob. Knowing this can be a plot hook for other Baldurians; just bring it up in a post or DM! Don't expect a straight answer if you ask him which form he's more comfortable in.
  • With regards to canon point I'll play from anywhere, but I'm currently a little more comfortable with Acts 1 and 2. I'm happy to play out Durge timelines and other AUs! A page listing important game choices will eventually be linked here.
  • Specific companion notes will be compiled in a post and linked somewhere around here. tl;dr: by Act 2 he's got a favorable view of all his companions. In Act 1 his rockiest relationship is with Gale... over his hoarder reluctance to give up any of the party's magical items...
  • The party meet Kain in his half-elf form on the Nautiloid ship. There are several points in Act 1 where they can learn of his identity as Tav, with the earliest being right after entering the Emerald Grove and speaking with a certain tiefling. More details on that soon™!
